In this chapter, we're introduced to the "ripple rooter," a symbol of fate. It's a symbol that tells us that something is about to happen, and that something's going to happen soon. We're also introduced to Mr. Vincent, the librarian, who's in a bad mood. He's been working late and hasn't been able to get to the library, so he's worried that something bad has happened to the boy. He asks the librarian if he saw the boy, and she tells him that she didn't. She also says that they've searched the whole area around the boy's school, but that the boy probably just ran away. The librarian says that it's possible the boy just ran off to the forest to meet with some spirits, but he asks if they can bring someone with them to help search for him. He says that's helpful if someone knows the kid's habits besides the parents, because then they'll be able to figure out what's wrong with the boy and figure out how to help him. The police inspector says that everyone's safe, and the boy is in the library. The girl is worried, but she doesn't want to look at the boy because she's afraid he'll have a heart attack. She's also worried that the girl's heart attack was caused by something in the room, but the girl assures her that it was just a gly . Then she falls asleep and dreams about the spirits. She wakes up and sees them again, but this time they're "white like vincent" and "sparkly"
