He also tells the pup that he does not enjoy hanging out with people during the holiday season. He says that it would be better to stay out of the way of the people around him, so that he can observe how their lives change during the holidays. He tells the dog that the winter is not as bad as he thinks it is, and the reader does not have to worry about the card reading that he did the last time he saw the puppy.
