Back at the police station, Detective Hayden asks the assistant director if he's okay. The assistant director says that he wasn't there when the shooting took place, and that he'd beat himself up if he told the captain that he was never going to forgive him. He doesn't know how to earn the captain's forgiveness, but he promises to never speak to him again
