Back at the cube city, bai tells his sister that he's heard something in the trees, and that he should head back to investigate. He uses a plant called mustard grass to treat his wounds, and he says it's effective for internal injuries as well. Aww, shucks, that's a little weird. He's not used to carrying herbs around in the street, but now he can't wait to eat them all. Ooh, sister, you're going to have to eat some ice cream, right? Aww shucks. Anyhoodle, sister tells bai that she bought him some food while she was sleeping, and she was worried that gatling's men would come after them if they were found. Little flower says she's never tasted ice cream before, but she does admit that she used to work on a farm when she was a kid. Geez, that sounds a lot like the kind of work that bai is now doing. He says that his family was poor when he was growing up, so his mom passed away when bai was young, so her dad had to give him money to help him out. So, little flower says, they're still the same, even though they used to be different.
