Since they've been in the forest, Uncle Rouncewell has been waiting for his sister to come back to him. He's worried that she's going to run away with the wanted man. He wants to know why she keeps hiding from him, and why she doesn't seem to be tired. He asks her if she got the medicine he asked her to get, and she tells him that she bought it for herself. He tells her that he's gotten used to the fact that his subordinates have been afraid of him and despised him. When he hears the sound of the rain, he decides to go back to the forest and find out what's been going on. He says that he can't go back because he'll have to kill his sister, and that he has nowhere else to go. The police and the kook are after him, so he has no choice but to shoot her. He calls her a hostage, and tells her to shut up, because the police and kook aren't going to catch him easily. He also tells her not to be shy, because his sister is here to meet her.
