Gamut is grateful to the company for saving his life. He admits that he helped them kill a lot of people, but he always thought that the bad guys were the ones they wanted him to kill. This time, however, they used children to do their experiments. Gamut thinks that it's too dangerous to kill children without a plan. The old man fought to send the kids back just for himself, but that's not the main point. He says that if the president dies, he will inherit a huge inheritance from Gamut. So, the old man is just trying to have his son die so that Gamut can inherit his fortune. He doesn't need to explain this to Gamut, he just needs to let him go for a week.
