When the smoke grenade is gone, Caius tells his sister that he's brought her back to get treatment. He's not sure how long she'll stay unconscious, but she's safe now. Caius asks if they're going to take action now, or if they want to die. He doesn't want to tell Caius that they've already killed another member of the kak, but he does want to know if it's sister sa who's killed the other one. He wants to know when sister sa can wake up, but Caius can't bring himself to tell the company that sister sa has gotten poisoned. He also wants to treat her privately, since the masked men keep picking on him with all kinds of reasons. He decides to restore the fallen tree, but first he has to figure out a way to get away from the two masked men.
