The next morning, Zillah wakes up to the smell of gas. He doesn't want to smell anything like it, but he does know that it's coming closer and closer. He's worried that the panther is going to attack, so he opens the door to let the others in. There's another guy who works for Gadling, and Zillah tells him to listen carefully because he's not a big fan of eloping with Ben Ruan. But then he sees a light in the distance, and he realizes that the light is coming from the panther's scope. He decides that this is the best way to ambush the panther.
