In the midst of the civil war between the company and the government, Ren tells Zillah that he has been spying on her. He tells her that she is a traitor and that she has no right to talk to him. She tells him to stop talking and to leave. She says that she wants a way out of the back door and not to burn bridges. Ren asks if she has killed bai li, and she says she hasn't. Ren tells her to send someone over to bring in a plant-venom that the company wants to kill the forest with. He says that he and zewu are hiding in the back of the car, and that Ren is the only one who suffers from the sound of the catcalls. Ren says that the battle isn't over yet, but that he will teach Zillah a lesson
