In the midst of his conversation with his father, Harada tells his father that he has met a man among the men. Harada says that from the moment he laid eyes on the man, he could feel his body quiver. He says that he tried to hate the man and to disgrace him, but that he had given himself to the man in spirit. He explains that he carries inside him the seed of a lord of the clan of kat, and that once the child is born, he will be able to link the clan's bloodlines with the ashina's. The child will make Harada's dream come true, he says, and it will fulfill his destiny. He asks his father if he means to betray him, and Harada replies that he does not, and he will send the child to the castle as soon as it is born.
