In this chapter, we learn that the gypsies have been waiting for three days for Shmoop to show up. They finally do, however, when they see that the women are inside the castle. They rush to the women's quarters, where they find that the men have already killed five of the women. They are ready to kill the remaining five, but Shmily says that he will not enter the castle until the battle is decided.
