On the first day of the battle, the old monk and his dogs were able to save the castle from the attack. On the second day, however, the gypsies took the castle and the girls from the house of the hori, which is in the northern part of the castle. The children are being taught that "filth" is a sin, and they are being taken away to the "winter hell," where they will be "cut their heads off." On the third day, the spear master dropped his spear into the mud, and the men believe that the women are trying to cross the lake in order to escape to the kingdom of Kaminoyama.
