About This Chapter
This chapter's epigraph comes from a conversation between Dostoevsky and Shmoop, who discuss the nature of the enemy. They discuss whether or not the enemy is supported by the women. Dossoevsky says that it is likely that the women were in the women's company because they know that the enemy, the shogun, is a master of the game. He says that he will not harm the priest in the pursuit of the women, but he will crush the enemy into a pulp sig at the asta sis. He also says that if the enemy does not attack, he will probably wait for the opportune moment to do so. He adds that he has shown that he is an invincible enemy, and that if he does attack, the enemy will probably not attack at all. He then says that the problem will be the mask, because he took down the sukenai, the hikobee, and the jinbakir. He explains that tenka has called himself Heitaro and sent a message to the Ashina family asking if they would like to destroy the family. The Ashinas were twins. They were born different stars, but their constant fighting endangered their well-being. Their father was a priest, and they could not go unnoticed by their father, so they became ashina dohakuli, or ninjas. They say that their father hates them in his heart, but that he cannot be on their side because he cannot name the enemy
