Tenneiji Temple , Hiroshiyama story 86 "The Snow Hell" . The girl's sister, San, finally manages to escape from the castle. She asks her brother-in-law if he can find her sister in the castle, and he replies that he will do all he can to find her. She thanks him, but he says that they sent her away, too, because they thought she was wearing a mask. He tells her that when he was playing with the madman, they called the snow-hell guards away to help subdue him. He says that it was dinnertime when they called them away, and that they would have unlocked the bars so they could have brought dinner down here. The trapdoor, he says, would have also been unlocked. He adds that it is possible that he could have been clever, but that even he could not have guessed that he would be sent into the "hell." He tells him that the battle is lost. Before the sun sets the next day, all of the women will come to the castle disguised as hannya. He explains that he knew that if they threw the women into the snow, they would be shamed, so he thought it would be a good idea to sneak them a sword so they wouldn't have to go through with it. He warns him that if he does not move, it will mean that he still has the sword.
