About This Chapter
Three days before the scheduled departure of Tenmaru, Ginshiro tells his master that the rumor is that akinari has returned to the city of Aizu. He tells him that he has caused a great deal of trouble for the Daimyo, so it is expected that he will not want to stay in the city. But he adds that the situation is getting more interesting and that he is enjoying the idea of sneaking up behind the raccoons and smoking them out. He says that he feels sorry for akinari because he has crossed the "wrong type of fellow" . He asks if it was not himself who chose him to be the new leader of the Ashina clan. The master replies that it is indeed him who has chosen him. He then asks if he is going to visit aizu to pay a visit to his master. He is growing weary of the snakes eyes. He looks up and sees that tenmaru is dead. He calls for his master and tells him to get up and take him there. He goes on to say that they have to leave the city because the enemy will soon follow them. He adds that they will lay their lives on the lines for their lord. He also says that the army of his clan is ready to fight if the enemy follows them. They will enter the city if they fail to catch up with them.
