The next morning, the Ming family is overjoyed to be reunited with their loved ones. The Ming elder, Yesheng, tells his son to bring his father to his room to check on his father's condition. Yesheng asks about the doctor, and the young man tells him that he has heard that the doctor in his village can cure his sickness, and that he came to the town of yuncheng to see him. When the doctor is taking his pulse, the family's house is set on fire, and Yesheng thinks that it must be Madame Qing's order that the house be destroyed. The young man, however, believes that Madame Qing is a complete soul, and prefers a more straightforward and simple approach. He feels that he was stopped from saving his father by Madame Qing, but that she keeps protecting her former master.
