This chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter, in which Cai Ming tells the story of how he was separated from the leader and taken in by the people of the Ming family. He explains that after he left the leader, they took him in and treated him like a member of their family. The villagers treated him well, but a strange disease struck the village and many people lost their lives. He used his own blood to make an antidote for the disease, but when he woke up, the villagers drugged him and kept him in captivity. He wonders why he is feeling so powerless. He asks why they cannot let jiu go. He says that since then, his only value to the villagers has been the blood in his body. Cai Ming finally arrives and tells his family that he is late. He begs them to let him go home, but they refuse, saying that jiu cannot leave. He tells them that he cannot believe that the people he trusted so much have turned into demons. He also tells them to calm down, as he is now covered in their blood.
