The scene opens with a soliloquy by Kim Min-woo, in which he tells his father that he is the sweetest man in the world if he succeeds in ripping apart everything in Kim's life and leaving a "wound in his heart" that he would rather die than live through. He says that if he were alone, he would "drive a spike through the heart" of Kim, but he is so miserable that he can't even put it away. He tells Kim that he's turning his misery over to Kim, who must "learn to love another" and "reject the life" that she's lived thus far. He also tells her that he will look her in the eyes until only one remains standing, and then he'll destroy everything in the face of the earth.
