About This Chapter
In this chapter, the narrator tries to pin the answer to the question, "What is the matter with you?" . He wonders if the answer is "for real" or "define it" , and he wonders if he has been asking the question since the beginning of the novel. He thinks that he used to think he might have a serious illness, but now he thinks he is a cute, but sickly, type. He asks if he is missing the summer, and when he says he is, he says that he is "allergic to the sun" and that he needs to wear an umbrella to protect himself from the sun's rays. The narrator then asks if the book review is due for some time, and the narrator says that the book is not due until after the report is due. He says that last time he got into trouble for copying a book from the internet, and now he does not plan to do the same thing. He tells the narrator to start working on the book now, rather than later, when the book will be available. He also asks if she has put on cologne today, and she says that she is dizzy and that she has a gross headache. She says she knew he was bleeding, and then she asks why he is making that face. He replies that he has never told her anything about himself, and that there was so much he wanted to ask her that she knew there was nothing she could say. She tells him that he should stop joking around, and asks him why he was making the face. She then tells him to stop making
