About This Chapter
This chapter's epigraph is from Gulliver's letter to Alek, in which he tells Alek that he is not worthy of being in special class because he is "so utterly disrespectful" . This is a reference to the fact that Alek has been expelled from the academy, and that the manager of the building hates students who behave out of order. The manager refuses to show him mercy, so Alek asks if he knows who the manager is. He says that it is normal for young people to make mistakes, and since he did it, he will take responsibility for it. He asks the manager if he can pay him back with credit points, and the manager says that he can, since he is a member of the academy. Alek thanks the manager for allowing him to look at the legacy mission, and asks to see the crystal. He tells the manager that he wants to see only what he wants the students to see, and he says that the longest student in the room is three, so he is thinking of quitting the mission. The boss tells him that the military is this place, even if he created an illusion of him getting kicked out. The military will realize that something is wrong, but he doesn't know how.
