About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a soliloquy about the "eight cold hells" . It's a reference to the fact that hell is shrouded in mystery and folklore, and that there are no legends, legends, or folklore about hell. The narrator then goes on to explain that the eight "cold" hells are a bunch of yokai, or ogres, who live in the snowy mountains. They're the representatives of hell, and they're going to throw a snowball at each other in a game of "snowball." The narrator doesn't really know what's going on, but he's happy to see them. He's also happy that they've got a team of "greater hells," who'll be throwing snowballs at the same time as them. When they see that the ogre is wearing a "greater crimson lotus" headband, the narrator apologizes for the commotion, and says that the team will be joining them on short notice. He also says that he'd like to work with them as well, and thanks them for joining them. The team will have to throw snowballs against each other, and the last team to throw the most will win. This is a great opportunity for the "greater" team to beat the "littler" team, and it's even better for the new recruits to be able to beat "grimson lane" , who's been crushing them all the time. The captain of the team says that if he beats "haruichi," they'll complain to the authorities, but the captain says that's not going to happen. He says that they should aim at the other team while they throw the snowballs, so they don't
