About This Chapter
The narrator begins this chapter by asking the reader if he likes winged hard shelled insects. The narrator says that he imagines that most people don't like them, since they're so different from humans, animals, birds, and fish. He then goes on to say that he's partial to cicada beetles, which he says are like scarabs in appearance. He compares hell to a grocery store, where grill-biters eat the dead and stuff their guts into the meat. The teacher is so sorry that he doesn't understand what he was thinking. He says that even though each bug has its own preference, they all look the same in the eyes. He also says that the only bug that even humans can't handle is the one that eats the bottom bits of other bugs.
