In this chapter, Lapis Ant, the monkey, tells a story about how he and Rio used to be friends. Rio is the leader of the monkey team, and the monkey calls him the "brains" of the team, but he is kind of a "layabout" because he is related to humans. Lapis also tells the story of Hozuki, the dog, and how he hired them. Hozuki is a fierce eater, and he likes to play with them all the time, even off-hours. He also likes to have a "lax leader" like King Enma around, because it's easier for him to be lax than to be stern. The story of the pinky swear is also told, and Lapis explains that it was a common practice for people to swear when they were young, but that it wasn'ta good practice because it made them look scary. He says that Hozuki's dumb, and that he's probably been in hell for a long time. He tells us that he was a rascal when he was little, but now he seems to have "really broken out of shell." He also tells us about Momotaro, who was once a hero, but then went off the rails and lived a life of luxury.
