About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the poet, li-bai, was drunk on liquor when he fell into the lake below a small island in the southern part of Japan. The island is home to a monkey who began stealing liquor from the island's inhabitants. The poet tells the monkey not to force himself to stay if he wants to stay. He tells him that he has come to heaven's death and that the girls on the island are "pretty once place" of hozuki. The monkey tells the poet that he is not allowed to come to the island because he is drunk. He says that the island is full of people who do not seem to be decreasing in age. This is because of "company and college parties." The poet says that since he was defeated by Susano in battle, he has not been depressed. He wonders if this is because the sake is being lectured. He thinks that the sword of Kusanagi is "a center of gravity" in the island and that he should hurry to get it back. He also says that he will pay immediately using the court's budget.
