The doctor and his wife are in the middle of a road-mending exercise when they are struck by a car driven by a man who passes them on the road. The woman, who appears to be a young girl, exits the car and runs into the street. Charles Chi and Vivien are in a panic because the car is leaking oil and they are in danger of losing their lives in the accident. They rush to the doctor to get some medicine, but the doctor refuses to give them any. He tells them that if they do not have the medicine, they will die in the future because of his illness. He says that if he were to die, it would not be worth it, because of the illness, his fate, and the fact that he does not have any money. He asks if she was his friend or his lover, and she says that she was right, but that she did not have money. She tells him that all that is left of her life is her map life, and that she teaches him how to act. She asks him if he wants a massage, and he says that he needs one.
