In this chapter, we learn that Chester's father, Mr. Mingott, has made a lot of money in the last few years, but that he still follows his father around like a dog begging for business. We learn that he's also made a ton of new friends in his new school, and that he doesn't have anyone to watch over him when he goes out for dinner. He's off to work, and when he gets home, he asks his wife if she's getting married. She says that she isn't, and he says that their marriage is their business.
