The chapter opens with a soliloquy by the prince, in which he laments the fact that he has not been able to get rid of his beautiful wife. He wonders why the guards of the palace have gone out to look at her, and he wonders why he has been unable to resume his relationship with her. He tells the prince that since the incident in the restaurant, the prince has been behaving as if he were in charge of his own life. He asks the prince how he can carry her around, and the prince replies that people from the West are accustomed to wearing little, so they do not have to dress so exquisitely. The prince then explains that in the past, he would have liked to eat a lot of tasty meat during the winter in order to clear the cold. Now, however, he realizes that he is not allowed to do so because he is a member of a family known as the golden lion. He explains that he had to dress decently for the sake of fighting, and that he prefers wearing clothes that were convenient for him to move. He also explains that his wife has received love letters from the "rogues" of the Golden Lion family, and she has been receiving them. He promises to reward her with gold and jewelry, and says that he will step "spectacular martial skills" and go to the "mortal world" as he pleases.
