In this chapter, the narrator explains that the long-running feud between the huangyan and the xuan han kingdoms stems from a dispute over ownership of the rocky Xuanji jade. Six months ago, he sent a general in charge of the foreign affairs to the kingdom of long yuan to settle the dispute. The general was accompanied by a former general, who is the father of the current general, xia liang. The former general and his daughter were assassinated by a group of female assassins. The assassins all lost consciousness and had no memory of what happened. The narrator tells the audience that the assassins are all part of the conspiracy to kill xia-honglian. He explains that zeyuan, the prince of long-yuan kingdom, is a master at manipulating people and making them believe that he is the one who controls them.
