About This Chapter
This chapter opens with a description of the people who tried to establish a utopia. They were disrespectful to the gods, they bless people, and they eliminate natural disasters. The narrator tells us that these people were trying to break free of the control of the gods and establish a better life. He says that the gods are hateful to the people because they worship them from the bottom up. They sell their possessions for magic stones, and then they turn the stones into magic. This is illegal, so the people gather in the streets and pray at the portraits of gods posted by the authorities. The portrait of the god of the earth is the most important thing in the world, and the people of the long yuan are the best at this controlling art. He tells the narrator that he wants to become a royal in the next world. He also tells him that the azure dragon god has abandoned the people. He asks the narrator if he is getting paid enough to understand all of this. He doesn't expect the narrator to understand it in one go, and he says that he still feels ashamed of him for eating the dragon god.
