In this chapter, we learn that the opening day of the swimming pool has come and gone, and that the third-year students are now free to use the pool as they wish. We learn that this is the first time that the students have ever been in the pool, and the theme of the day is "water escapes your swim suit" . We also learn that there have been many accidents in the U.S. in the past few years, and one of the accidents was caused by three people who were in the same boat as the students. The students decide to escape from their swim suits, and escape from the cold reception at the pool. They do so, however, by jumping into the water and swimming.
