In this chapter, we are introduced to our heroine, Madara, and her assistant, Tamura. We learn that she has just returned from a trip to Japan, and that she is very excited to be back home. We are also introduced to Tamura's assistant, Shimada, who is also in her mid-thirties, and we are told that he is a member of the National Academy of Sciences. We also learn that Tamura has been studying physics for a long time, and he is very interested in the mechanics of the human body. He is also interested in mechanics and physics in general, but he does not know how to apply it to his own life. He does know, however, that he can use his knowledge to help others, and this is what he does in his spare time.
