About This Chapter
The next morning, Benipe asks the commander of Pharaoh's army, Phebe, where the king is. Phebe says that the war against the Hittites has started, and that the king has led his troops into the battlefield and fallen into the trap set by the enemy. He also says that he received false intel that the other army would arrive soon to rescue him from the trap, but Phebe worries that he will be killed if he does not leave now. She tells him that Phebe and Maeve are like hedgehogs who constantly hurt each other, and she hopes that they will be able to get along. The commander of the Phaedra's legion says that even though he is no longer a prophet, the highness still commands him. He says that they have been guarding the memphis, the river that separates Egypt from Syria, since the war started. They hope to help the king if he is in trouble, but they are afraid that if the war ends, they will lose their strength. They ask the commander to lead the army to the king, but he refuses, saying that he is not capable of doing so. He asks the other commander to take his place and protect the king.
