The scene opens with a flashback to six years ago, when Jarry first met the princess. Jarry tells the story of how he helped the princess escape from the prison. He tells the king that he will prepare a banquet for the princess and her family. The king tells him that the Egyptian army will soon reach the Sinai peninsula. He asks the king why he didn't send any troops to the peninsula. The King tells him to send more troops, but Jarry says that he won't do it.
