About This Chapter
The scene opens in a public place in ancient Egypt. Lady ivy, a priestess, asks why her sister isn't living in the temple. She's there to bless a child, and she's also there to give medicine to the poor. She asks the king to give her a water jug so she can talk to her sister. The king says he'll be waiting for her at the palace. She says she doesn't understand her sister's question. She tells the king that her name is ivy, and that she came to Egypt 3,000 years ago, on a whim. She explains that she'd like to change history, but she can't because her name came from a place 3,000 years before the present. She also says that if she had married the king, her life would be different. She adds that the king loves her, so why shouldn't stay by his side? The king tells her that the thing she wanted to finish as quickly as possible is set to fall apart. He apologizes, and says that he's finally heard from the military in Egypt that there's no more reinforcements coming from the kingdom of giza. He says that his brother hanged himself when he heard that there wouldn't be any more reinforcements. He also says he received a message from Memphis that says that the family in giza is still alive, and he wants to kill them all.
