About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that in the years following the death of Ramesses II, the Egyptian nation has become a great power in the region. We also learn that the bet between Egypt and the Hittites is still in progress, and that the two of them are on their way to Memphis to settle the matter. When they arrive, they find that the journey has taken longer than expected, and they are worried that they will be captured by the Egyptian army. They ask each other why they are on such a long journey, and each of them answers that it is because they are afraid of being captured. They are also worried that the blonde woman is an enemy of the Egyptian state, because she is considered an enemy by Hittite men. The two women decide that they are going to go home, and when they see that there are many men with them, they realize that they have no choice but to go back to Egypt. They decide that it would be better for them if they could return home, because they would be able to protect their loved ones in the future. They also decide that their journey is not about the bet, but about using it as a way to get the woman in love with them.
