About This Chapter
The King is worried about his son, who has been poisoned. He asks the doctor to come and get him, but the doctor refuses, saying that he is too busy with his own business. The King tells his son that he will be fine, and that the doctor will be back soon. The son tells the King that he was too careless in his handling of the situation, and he is glad that he has found out the truth. He tells the king that Lapis has been with him for ten years, and has listened to every word he has to say. Lapis is loyal and dedicated to the King, and had always been his most trusted friend. The king asks if the doctor knows that the gun is a gun, and the son says that he did not. He also says that the man who poisoned Lapis already told him not to get involved, so he will die too, as if he had done so. He then asks the King to give him a horse, and to let him out of the City. He says that his brother will never harm him, because this man thinks of him as a "chess piece." The King says that they cannot let the doctor go, and they need to get the messenger, so that they can find out
