About This Chapter
The queen is nowhere to be found, and the narrator tells us that she's just like the blue sky in his memories. He says that he's not sure if Egypt has forgotten about him, but he doesn't want to hurt his feelings. He's a phoenician trader from syria, and his things have all been stolen by the "damned hittites" . The war in syria is going on, so they're going to have to come to Egypt. They're planning to start their business in Memphis, which is in the middle of a civil war. The narrator says that the king is marrying a woman named nefertari, an important priestess in the country. He asks the narrator if he ever heard of a blonde, haired, and blue-eyed woman in Egypt, and she tells him that she has never been there. She also says that she heard the king make a beautiful foreign woman his queen five years ago, and that the narrator's sister is curious about it. She wonders if there is such a woman, but the narrator says no such woman exists in Egypt. He also tells the narrator that the queen's sculptures, portraits, and documents all have been destroyed. He wonders why the king would do such a thing. He once tried to get the queen to tell him why she didn't know anything, but this time, the queen hurt the king in front of god amun. The ministers of the country made a petition asking the king to kill her on sight. He probably doesn' t care for her anymore, and he probably wants to marry a bunch of wives.
