This chapter opens with a bang. It's the opening of a new restaurant. The owner of the new restaurant is Lin San, the son of a military commander. Lin San's father is a lousy businessman, and Lin's son is also a terrible businessman. Lin says that he's here to "smash things up" . He's angry because Lin San is running the restaurant with a bunch of "rude pariahs" , including his own brother, who's also a pariah. Lin is furious that Lin San has offended his family, and he wants Lin San to be the one to punish Lin San for his rudeness. Lin tries to calm him down, but his brother won't listen. Lin tells his brother to just smash the place up, because there's something wrong with the place. He says that if Lin San wants to be satisfied, then he should just smash it up. But Lin is not satisfied. He wants to make sure that his baby is safe from the "ratty pariah" Lin San.
