In this chapter, we are introduced to Lin, the servant who has been assigned to work at the mansion. He is angry that his name is being used against him and that he is being treated badly by his superiors. He tells the servants that if they do not stop treating him badly, he will report back to the madam. He also tells them that he has been arranged to work as a servant by the old woman, and that she will punish him if she learns of it. The servants are not listening to Lin's words and do not listen to his complaints. They are all looking down on him. He says that they are all "evil frauds" and that they should not do such a thing. He adds that he hates bratty brats the most. He then tells them to let Lin take the exam immediately and if he does not pass, he should be bitten by the mighty general. Lin tells his brother that his face has become swollen because he got licked by a dog. Lin says that he already passed the exam and that if he had to take it again, he would have to do so because he had already passed. Lin asks if he is okay, and his face hurts. Lin then tells him that he knows the answer to the question that took him three years to create. He asks if the family can hire him as a contractor. Lin replies that he can sign just as the servants are waiting for him.
