In this chapter, we learn that dakhan has built a tunnel through which he can enter the ancient temple of the wati-kutjarra. He has also constructed a passage through the temple to the ancient Tritons. The two men discuss the possibility of a docking of the Leviathan with the Tritons, but they do not yet know whether or not they will be able to enter the temple. They are also concerned about the safety of the crew, as the mini-subs of the centenearians are believed to be in the area. They also learn that Kim's sub is also in the vicinity of the temple, and that they will need to bring it back to retrieve it.
