Petruchio and the French scientist, Dournon, are on their way to the Fortuna Island, where they believe the recent spate of drownings may have been caused by large pikes. They plan to use a special underwater vehicle to explore the island, but the weather is forecast to be bad, so they're going to have to postpone their expedition. Petruchino is so upset that he can't stop talking. He says they've already seen many rare species of fish, including jacks and snappers, but nothing is known about them yet.
