The song opens with a soliloquy by the Lord of the Rings, Milton. Milton asks the god of the universe if he has banished him from heaven. The god replies that he has not. He tells Milton that his soul is full of anger, but he sees no reason to trust him. Milton tells the god that he and the other angels fought for the sake of God, not for their own glory. They walked the same path, he says, and then fate brought them to him.
