About This Chapter
This chapter opens with the arrival of the former monk, Nestor, who has been waiting for the monk for some time. Nestor tells the group that he has come to tell them about the Crusades. He tells them that he was once a member of Nestor's household, but that he had died of a earl attack many years ago. Nestor says that he is surprised that Nestor has not been killed in the battle, since he thought that Nestor had been killed by God. Nestor explains that he came to tell the group about their fight against the Turks because he knows that the Turks do not believe in God. He says that they need someone with "hardened faith" to help them in their fight. Nestor then shows the monk the book that contains the accounts of the past. The accounts, he says, are the records of a long and disturbing book. The monk tells Nestor that he must read the book to understand what has happened in the past
