About This Chapter
Now that the curse has been broken, it's time to break it again. The ghost tells the master that they need to find and destroy the old house's "memoir" . He says that he can't see anyone in the future because of the curse, but he wants to save everyone, regardless of what happens to them in the afterlife. He tells the fever reducer to keep his distance from the "creep" , but says that breaking the seal might be worth it if it means cutting his connection with him. He also tells the ghost that he's been waiting for the master to do something for her slaves, and now that he knows the reason he met them all, he can help them. He's going to go to any lengths to save them, he says. He doesn't know if he deserves them, but what he does know is that he will go "to any length" to save the slaves. The memento that kept the curse on the house is a "wonderful home" filled with memories. He plans to use it as a memento, so long as the "old house" continues to exist. This means that the house that the ghost wanted to inherit is actually a "slab" of real estate, which means that he won't have to do anything to inherit it. He can keep the connection going, though, if he wants.
