In this chapter, we find out why chaewoo turned his back on Eunjo. We learn that he was the one who told Jeon that Eunjo was planning to escape. Jeon told him that without his warning, he would not have been able to free Eunjo from slavery. Eunjo's contract with Yonwoo is to be terminated, and she wants Yonwoo's and hers to be free from slavery as well. She also tells Yonwoo that she did everything for him, including selling her own master. Yonwoo admits that he is not sure what he tried to do with his master's drink, but that he would do it again if he had the intention of poisoning her. She tells him that she adored him so much that she pleaded for his help, but she would then break him up herself. She adds that she had to do it all herself, and Yonwoo would pick her and she might live, but now it is over. She asks Yonwoo to try and change his own destiny, and he agrees to do so. He admits that it is all his fault, but he blames Yonwoo for not being able to find a way to punish Yonwoo back in the first place. This time, Yonwoo agrees to be punished because he is the one responsible for the whole mess. He also agrees that he should never betray anyone else again. This is an order that he has always wanted to tell Yonwoo. He says that he needs to get rid of the curse. He remembers telling Yonwoo at the haunted house that he had a new memento, and that the hematomancy had been broken when the old one burned down. He wants to save everyone.
