About This Chapter
Four of the Jeongwon's children are afflicted with a genetic disease that causes fevers. One of the four, the old hostess's lover, is suffering from the disease. He is the only one of them who has not yet contracted the disease, and he tells his master that he has a dream every night in which he and his master are in love with each other in the past life. The two of them are lovers in the present life, but they are also lovers in their past lives. The master is convinced that the dream is the result of a predestined relationship between him and his mistress. He tells his mistress that she must tell her lover that she is his mistress and that she has been following him around "like a puppy." He is relieved that the curse has weakened, but he is still concerned about the fate of the others. He asks his master if he wants to let the others die, but the master says that he cannot do that since he is not under a curse. He decides that he must protect his mistress first.
