In this chapter, we learn that Lee's son, Lee Jeong, has been promoted to the position of a government official, and that Jeong himself has been given a present from his father: the gift of Jeong's dog, the loyal dog of the hostess. Jeong is a slave of the Lee family, and the dog was given to Jeong by his father as a present for his son. The dog, however, has taken most of the jewelry belonging to the young man. The young man, who has arrived from the family of the previous owner of the dog, is not concerned about the dog's theft, and Jeong tells him that he has nothing to worry about.
