About This Chapter
In this chapter, the young woman explains that she has been doing everything she can to save her younger sister's life. If she were to be deported to Jeju, she would no longer have the money to pay for the treatment she needs for her condition. She begs that Jeju not send her away to live as a slave. The young woman tells her that she is the only slave she has, and that she and chaewoo resemble a family. She asks if she still wants to separate them, and she replies that she does not want to. She says that she cannot do it, because the word "loyalty" is a combination of "faith" and "commission" . She tells her madam that she will be expelled from Jeju if she tries to do so. She then tells her about the agreement she has made with Jeju. She promises to provide them with all of their medication for life. She even states that they may visit her whenever they need something. The agreement states that if any of them violate this agreement, they will both be subjected to the "worst possible criminal penalties" under the law.
