About This Chapter
The narrator tells the audience that he trusts no one, and that he has to get ready for dinner. He tells them that part two of the story has to be scripted, and he asks the audience to sit it out. The narrator says that he tried to change, but that he had to talk to a friend of his father's who got him a job at a publishing company. He says that the friend, nanjo-san, can be annoying, but he's happy to be at the publishing company, since he has never been good at multi-tasking. He also says that one day, he saw junichi and kurata crying together. He doesn't like kurata because she looks forward to cleaning after a tough day of work. He's not looking for a wife with age, he says. She's already found a replacement for his old job, and the odds are good that he'll marry her. He wants to know if he really wants his old boss to become his new father. He asks if eriko feels sorry for her old boss, and she says that they aren't related. He wonders if they're going to do a "docu-mentary" about the missing parts of the movie, and says he'd like to take the wheel.
