A group of men shows up demanding the release of the three hostages from the brothel. Hiromi is surprised to find that they're there, and he apologizes for kicking in the window. He's also surprised that the others haven't shown up yet, because he thinks they'll be in another room. He tries to talk to them, but they won't let him in. They're all yelling at each other to throw the hostages out, and Hiromi tries to calm them down by saying that he's sorry to see them there, but he doesn't want to be a burden to them. He tells them that they should just chill out and not worry about him. He also tells them about the experiments they've been conducting with sound. He says that the music playing on the phonograph, the wall-syllabus pattern, the dental syllable structure pattern, and the mandatory reading of the morning and evening Sutras have all been triggering unconscious aggression in the participants. He wants to know what's going on, but Hiromi can't bring himself to tell him. The men are beating up the other two, and they don't look well. He asks Hiromi if he can help him find the others. He was trying to find a way to calm down and make his wife fall for him.
